June 21, 2016...

I had my breakfast packed because I wasn’t up for breakfast yet. We checked out of the lodge and drove to the ZTA office to see Daniel before leaving for Mutare.

Bye-bye Ancient City...

It was another long drive through the country, as we headed on towards Mutare. We crossed the Sa've River via the iconic Birchenough Bridge near Chipinge, and continued our journey.

When we got to Mutare, we were famished and tired and we headed straight to the Golden Peacock Hotel where Ropafadzo Dunira of ZTA Mutare was waiting for us.

Lizzie and Ropa...

Although we were not scheduled to stay at Golden Peacock, we had a sumptuous lunch there. It was such a feast, one became suspicious whether our Zimbo friends were fattening us for the slaughter.

After the meal, we out into the town to check out some other places, specifically Amber Sun Mutare (which has since changed to Holiday Inn, Mutare) and the luxurious Leopard Rock Hotel, before driving down to La Rochelle Country House. It was dark by the time we left Leopard Rock in the Vumba area and temperature had dropped.

By the time we arrived Penhalonga, were pretty tired and the cold was certainly not friendly, so we hurried through dinner at the restaurant and headed to our rooms. It had been a long day with the long drive all the way from Masvingo...
